“Reaching out for help can take courage and, in my experience, this brave step can create a powerful shift toward change. I am committed to honouring my clients’ courage by nurturing a compassionate, open, and accountable relationship in therapy.”
Anika Cornish, MCP, RCC, CCC is a Vancouver-based Registered Clinical Counsellor experienced in working with a variety of clients, issues, and therapy goals. Anika has a warm and engaging manner that immediately puts her clients at ease. Her goal is always to ensure clients feel well informed and comfortable with the counselling process.
Mental health and wellness goes hand-in-hand with our physical health – one truly does impact the other. Anika works with clients to better understand how their mental health is currently affecting their energy levels, sleep, appetite, pain levels, and general sense of well being in their body. Counselling can positively impact all these areas of health, as well as bring into focus ways we can care for ourselves amidst the busy-ness of life.
Anika’s practice incorporates evidence-based techniques from narrative therapy, mind-body approaches, mindfulness-based psychotherapy, as well as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Recognizing that each individual is unique, Anika works to develop a personalized approach to help each client meet their goals for therapy, re-engage in life, feel more at ease in their bodies, and improve their satisfaction and connection in relationships. Anika works with clients struggling with diverse issues such as:
• Trauma and PTSD,
• Grief, loss, and bereavement
• Relationship concerns
• Family of origin issues
• Sexuality, gender identity, and LGBTQ issues
Working with both heterosexual and LGBTQ couples, Anika helps couples nurture a deeper connection and gain tools to breakthrough conflict, ease communication, and build affection, respect, and greater understanding one another.
