A Reflection on New Year’s Eve

“2018 Already?”

This is the exclamation that we have been hearing from many of our patients over the last month as New Year’s 2018 nears. Despite being “just another Sunday,” New Year’s Eve can bring in waves of reflection, gratitude, disbelief, regret, or for some, feelings of nothing having changed at all! Many of us have mixed emotions about entering the New Year, which can sometimes feel overwhelming.

As author Tsh Oxenreider writes in her blog on “The Art of Simple:” New Year’s reflection often boots people in to a frenzy of action….

“Post-eggnog, it’s easy to speed forward with gusto and juice-cleanse your system from all the holiday indulgence. I’m a future-oriented thinker, so I love new year planning, goal-setting, and getting excited about the next twelve months.

But ease your foot onto the brake just for a few days. Give yourself the space and freedom to reflect on the past year.

I’m all for starting a fresh new year, dreaming big, finding that one special word, or whatever helps you clean out the cobwebs in the corners. But all this is much more meaningful when you remember the bends in the road behind you.”

She suggests, perhaps as a family activity, answering 20 basic questions to help you reflect meaningfully on the New Year. Check out her 20 questions here.

If you are struggling with the transition into the New Year, Anika Cornish, Eastpoint’s Registered Clinical Counsellor, is available to work with anyone coping with grief and loss, life transitions, challenged relationships, stress, body acceptance, lifestyle and habit changes, and more.

What did 2017 look like at Eastpoint?

We have been able to help so many new patients, and are so happy to welcome you into our community. We have supported families and children into the clinic with Babywearing consultations. Stefan Chang received his full certification as a TCM Doctor in addition to his growing Acupuncture practice. We have made some cosmetic upgrades to the clinic in the last year to improve patient comfort, and we have moved even closer to being an increasingly environmentally friendly facility too! Sharlene Petigara joined our team for the summer. Sharon Jackson came on to offer Registered Massage Therapy. We have proudly supported approximately 25 mothers bring their babies into the world under our chiropractic care, and we are looking forward to meeting all the new babies expected in 2018. We are proud to have 5 star reviews for all our practitioners and staff.

We want to thank you, our patients and friends, for a wonderful 2017. Being able to be here for you is the greatest honour, and you motivate us to do our best every day.

Thank you, and have a happy, healthy 2018!
